We recommend using a minimum of 1 HP to 1.5 HP for each acre of pond size. For a truly spectacular display, it's well worth it to go with the largest motor you can!

This depends on the power setup you have near your pond. A 120V motor can plug into a standard residential outlet, while 240V motors are usually hardwired to a dedicated panel. When possible, we strongly advise using 240V motors as they allow for longer power cords, more horsepower options and are less prone to voltage drop.

If you do not already have power near your pond, then you'll want to consult a licensed electrician to install a power source. Once a power source is available, installation of the fountain is relatively easy. The fountain floats in the middle of the pond and is anchored on three sides using the provided anchoring rope. The fountain is then plugged in via submersible cord to the power source at the edge of your pond.

Our fountains are built to withstand 24 hour operation and running them 24/7 is ideal! If you plan to have the fountain on a timer, we suggest running it for a minimum of 12 hours per day to keep your pond healthy.

Kasco fountains must be removed from the pond before temperatures reach below freezing. This is a good time to inspect and clean the unit before winter storage.

Generally, you should not have to clean the fountain often. The fountain is equipped with a plastic filter screen which does a great job at preventing clogs. If you notice a drop in spray size over time, that's a sign the fountain needs to be cleaned. Disconnect the power, remove the fountain from the pond and clear out the debris basket.

Fountains aren't just decorations, they are also an effective way to aerate a pond! While they only circulate about 8 ft deep, they excel in ways that other aeration systems can't. Fountains do not disturb deep sediments, they agitate and introduce air into the surface layers of the pond (where the vast majority of oxygen transfer occurs). This makes fountain aeration extremely effective at increasing oxygen levels and eliminating surface algae, muck, and foul odors.

Kasco light kits easily attach onto the fountain’s float in just minutes using the provided hardware. Each kit includes its own set of power cord which connects into the provided control panel. Both white and colored options include a timer, and the colored light kits also include a remote control.

If you prefer to have as many options as possible, go with our color changing light kits, these allow for plenty of color combinations. If you just want a simple and elegant option, then our warm white lights are a great choice. For fountains 1 HP or less, our 3-light kits will be sufficient. For fountains 2 HP or more, 6-light kits will ensure that the entire fountain display is illuminated.

No, you will not need a fountain timer for a Kasco fountain. All Kasco fountains include a control panel which functions as a timer for the fountain and optional light kits.
