Which Horsepower Should I Choose?
We recommend using a minimum of 1 HP to 1.5 HP for each acre of pond size. For a truly spectacular display, it's well worth it to go with the largest motor you can!
Should I Use 120V or 240V?
This depends on the power set-up that you have. 120V motors will plug into any standard residential outlet, while 240V motors are hardwired directly to a panel. When the option is available, a 240V motor is often the better choice. Because they draw only half the current of a comparable 120V motor, they are less prone to voltage drop and operate with less heat and strain.
How Do I Install The Fountain?
If you do not already have power near your pond, then you'll want to consult a licensed electrician to install a power source. Once a power source is available, installation of the fountain is relatively easy. The fountain floats in the middle of the pond and is anchored on three sides using the provided anchoring rope. The fountain is then plugged in via submersible cord to the power source at the edge of your pond.
How Long Should I Run The Fountain?
If you're adding a fountain for aeration, we advise running it for a minimum of 12 hours per day. If it's purely for decoration, then you can run it as long as you'd like.
Should I Remove The Fountain Before Winter?
Kasco fountains must be removed from the pond before temperatures reach below freezing. This is a good time to inspect and clean the unit before winter storage.
Do I Need To Clean The Fountain?
Generally, you should not have to clean the fountain often. The fountain is equipped with a plastic filter screen which does a great job at preventing clogs. If you notice a drop in spray size over time, that's a sign the fountain needs to be cleaned. Disconnect the power, remove the fountain from the pond and clear out the debris basket.
Will A Fountain Aerate My Pond?
Yes, a fountain will absolutely aerate your pond. While they only circulate about 8 ft deep, they excel in ways that other aeration systems do not. Fountains agitate and introduce air into the surface level of the pond where the majority of oxygen transfer occurs. This surface agitation is extremely effective at dissipating algae and scum.
How Do The Light Kits Work?
Kasco light kits easily attach onto the fountain’s float in just minutes using the provided hardware. Each kit includes its own set of power cord which connects into the provided control panel. Both white and colored options include a timer, and the colored light kits also include a remote control.
Which Light Kit Should I Use?
If you prefer to have as many options as possible, go with our color changing light kits, these allow for plenty of color combinations. If you just want a simple and elegant option, then our warm white lights are a great choice. For fountains 1 HP or less, our 3-light kits will be sufficient. For fountains 2 HP or more, 6-light kits will ensure that the entire fountain display is illuminated.
Do I Need A Fountain Timer?
No, you will not need a fountain timer for a Kasco fountain. All Kasco fountains include a control panel which functions as a timer for the fountain and optional light kits.
