How We Calculate This
Rectangular ponds: length × width ÷ 43,560. Oval ponds: length × width × π ÷ 4 ÷ 43,560. Irregular ponds: approximate length × width × 0.75 ÷ 43,560. If you already know the acreage, enter it directly. Horsepower is assigned using PondStream's pond-acreage sizing ranges. Average depth is required to recommend a fountain brand, but does not change the surface-area-based horsepower recommendation.
For irregular ponds, dimensions should represent the longest and widest extents; the result is an estimate. For more precise sizing, use a surveyed surface area.
